Hi, I'm Lei and I'm a geckoholic. :D

I have a dalmatian crestie, and 2 leopard geckos. I hope to get more in the future. My crestie is currently unsexed, almost a year old, and still quite small. But quite awesome just the same!

here there be geckoCollapse )

What's your name? Vanessa/Motherrex

Do you own a crestie? I currently have 4. Hoping for more when I have more space.

What is(are) their name(s)? Ceaser, The Mean One (No, seriously, that's what we call her because she hissed at us), Dalmation, and The Other One (it's plain and matches the environment around her, whether she's fired up or not. So when she hides in the wood chips/moss, we can't find her. The name sort of stuck after two weeks).

What is your favorite thing about cresties? I love most everything about them, but if I had to pick a feature, it'd be how the tail has pads on it too. So they hang like a possum when they lose balance with their hands. Next to that, it's the eyes. It's so easy to tell when they're asleep or awake when you learn to look at their eyes.

Hey everyone! My name's Holly and right now I currently have 1 crested gecko and I'm getting 2 little gargoyles on Thursday. My crestie's name is Beowulf. The gargoyles will be named Jigsaw and Killer, yes after the Saw movies. My absolute favorite thing about Rhacs in general is their differing personalities and how they look like they're smiling. Once the gargoyles arrive and get settled in, I'll post pictures of all 3 rhacs.

I finally found pictures of Pele [in the plant] and Noe [on the branch]. Wasn't sure anyone would want to see them, but here they are.

Just thought I would share a vid I caught last night of two of my hatchlings pipping and slithering on out of their eggs :) Best watched with sound off since I tend to babble meaninglessly >__>

Vid's behind the cut!Collapse )

'Ello! My name is Caitlin. I am 20 years old living in Southern Cali. I am the proud care-giver to two beautiful gargoyle geckos, Pele is a striped female and Noe a monochrome marbled male. They are both 8 months old.

What is your favorite thing about cresties?

 - I would have to say my favorite thing about "cresties" would be their eyes, absolutely amazing to look at.

Last night I took the girls out to weigh/hold them and found Alice's tail looked like this:

tail injuryCollapse )

Is that a bite injury or something fungal/parasitic?

Both geckos weigh the same (16 grams). Alice is eating, drinking, and seems generally well.

I wish she'd drop the tail. :\

On April 23rd 2009, The Natural Resources Committee of the U.S. Congress will hold a hearing on H.R. 669, a resolution that will in effect ban importation, interstate transport, and the private ownership of most birds, mammals, reptiles, and fish as pets. Should HR669 be adopted as written only the following nonnative animals
would be allowed:

-Cats (Felis catus)
-Cattle/Oxen (Bos taurus)
-Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus)
-Dogs (Canis lupus familiaris)
-Donkey/Asses (Equus asinus)
-Domesticated Geese (family Anatidae)
-Domesticated Ducks (Anas spp.)
-Goats (Capra aegagrus hircus)
-Common Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus)

-Mule/Hinny (Equus caballus x E. asinus)
-Domesticated Pigs/Hogs (Sus scrofa domestica)

Should this resolution be adopted into law as written it will have a devastating impact on every pet owner and business in the United States.

Action is needed TODAY to protect your rights to keep your pets! (So call/email/write your local congressrep voicing your opposition)

EDIT: I made quite the... Equus asinus of myself, believing what was circulating before studying the bill. That list is only the definition of domestic species. No list has been agreed upon yet. LINK FOR ACTUAL BILL

Hey all, I hope this is allowed - I wanted to post about a Rhacodactylus photo contest going on at Pangea's forums. This month, the theme is "spring," and I'm covering a first-place and runner-up prize, so I hope you will check it out!

If you do choose to enter, I'd love it if you would also vote in last month's contest, as well as a contest they are having for "best Kritter Keeper setup" here (that closes in just a couple of hours, and there's currently a tie, so your vote would really count!)

Click the pic to jump into the main forum! My name is Jaybee there if you want to put me down as a referrer... come say hi :)

I've heard a lot of conflicting things about humidity so I'd like everyone's personal opinion about what it should be at. Thanks in advance!
